The High Intertidal zone is flooded during the peaks of the once or twice daily high tides, and out of water for the long stretches in between. The High Intertidal Zone is also called the upper Mid-littoral zone. Organisms in the habitat includes Purple Shoreline crab, Barnacles, And Blue Green Sequenced live in the high Intertidal Zone. Anemones, Barnacles, Brittle Stars, Chitors Crabs, Green Algae, Isopods, Limpets, Mussels, Sea Stars, Snails, Whelks and Some Marine Vegetation live in the high tide zone.
The Higher Intertidal Zone has least amount of time submerged in water. Also the organisms that inhabit this zone must be well adapted to withstand exposure to air. Green Algae, Lichens, Brown Algae, Red Algae, L. Littoral's Anemone, Barnacles, brittle Stars, Chitons, Crabs, Isopods, Limpets, Sea Stars, Snails, Whelks, and some Marine vegetation. Acorn Barnacles are also one of them organisms that can survive in this zone. Its also called the Upper Mid-Littoral zone. This zone is flooded only during the high tide.
The High Intertidal Zone is mostly flooded during the peaks of once or twice daily high tides. Also out of water for the long stretches in between.
The High Intertidal Zone is flooded during the high tides only,is a highly saline environment. The abundance of water is not high enough to sustain large amounts of vegetation. Although some do survive in the high tide zone. The high tide zone can also have rock pools inhabited by small fish and larger seaweeds. The Hermit Crab is another organism found in the High Intertidal Zone, because of its portable home in the form of a shell does extremely well as it is sheltered form the high temperature range to an extent and can also carry water with it in its shell. There is a much higher population of Hermit Crabs to commons crabs in the High Intertidal Zone. In the High Intertidal Zone life is much more abundant their than in the Spay Zone.
